Cooking + Nintendo


I never knew that a day spent at home could be so fun and photo-worthy! I took many many pictures today!

So after Ppl went out, mama and I proceeded to cook pasta at 12+.. I realize I really want to cook, but my basics are pretty bad.. Ie, I don't know how to boil pasta properly? It's sure easy watching people do it on TV.. LOL..

We bought these ingredients from NTUC last night..



The pasta (500g) was $2.90, Campbell soup was $1.30, and canned corn was unbelievably cheap -- 87cents!! OMG..

Chunz's Creamy Pasta -- Recipe
(serves 2)

Ingredients you will need:

1. 1 bowl of pasta (duh!) -- We are using fusilli today..


2. Sliced sausage and ham


3. Corn


4. Canned soup (forgot to take picture)

Procedure:

1. Cook the pasta


2. Drain and leave to cool


3. Cook canned soup and other ingredients together, adding as much or as little water as you see fit. Finally, put the pasta in and toss well.


And tada!!!


Garnish with ham or anything else you like, like cheese or spices..


Cooking at home is super affordable! We used like only 1/3 of the whole box of pasta, so it's like $1.. And only a bit of the canned corn, probably like 30cents of it? And the canned soup we had a bit leftover so maybe used about $1.. And the hotdog/ham, at most 40cents in all!! So a meal for 2 people (we were actually FULL!) is $(1+0.30+1+0.40) = $2.70.. Each person pays less than $1.50! Tell me, where can you find such delicious pasta for less than $1.50!! Now I know why so many people are in the food business..

Let this post be an encouragement to me (and my darling owlet) whenever we get sian to cook in Gage!! Must.. Cook.. At.. Home.. Cheap.. Cheap.. Outside food is expensive!!!

And then I wanted to watch drama, but the computer was on for the whole day, so decided to let it rest for a bit.. So mama dug out this ancient antique!


Yes, it's a Nintendo.. Not a Wii, but Super Famicon! It's the Nintendo of the age of dinosaurs..

I surprised myself by successfully connecting it, and we started playing all the old familiar games!!

I was using my tripod.. Very fun, should do it more often with Pentax, cos BenQ lens are dusty.. But it's cool cos you can actually see the movements if you put all the pictures in a slideshow..

And Ppl came home around 7pm and we had dinner.. Now blog finish gonna TV, then maybe drama!! =) Tomorrow no plans, maybe more gaming and drama? *_*

Nutella Crostinis


I'm blogging past 12am! In fact it's 12:35am liao.. Have been spending the past one hour watching TV (plus multi-tasking something else).. Was watching La Femme and then some of Rachel Ray which I taped today.. Man I miss my FOOD NETWORK TV!!!!

Oh yes, watched Instant Chef hosted by Chen Hanwei.. It's a dumb-ass show lah.. Seriously.. Everything they say can DIY, but all the ingredients are so crazily expensive! And equipment are so rare that you won't find them in a usual kitchen.. And the so-called chef is an ex-lawyer who discovered his passion for cooking. Please, everything also say don't overcook or else not nice.. DUH right?? I'd much rather watch Giada thank you very much.
This morning woke up at 10:30am even though I wanted to rise earlier, but was unable to cos probably bubble tea made me sleepless again!! -_- And then made my Nutella crostinis! (One of my dreams come true!)

Ppl anyhow talk la.. Cos I froze some hotdog buns in advance mah, and with previous experience, I realize you cannot slice bread when it's at room temperature.. So when Ppl saw me proceeding to cut the frozen bread he immediately said, "What are you doing? Bread frozen how to cut?" And I promptly cut it in front of him and he had nothing to say and walked away. HA! Chunz scores!

So I slice them and put them on the toaster tray.. 2 minutes on each side (just like what Giada would say), and I spread some of them with butter, and some with Nutella. I realize Nutella crostinis don't taste out of this world but at least I've tried it and one of my mini dreams have come true.. More tasty creations in future! =)








And then go shop.. Lunch was tuna hotdog buns again!! Slack quite a bit.. Read some magazine too.. Poor little cat was so hungry!!! Nobody fed it today so I fed only a little bit twice..

Came home late as usual and just TV-ed.. I long to be a couch potato again!!! And I just calculated my expenses for the past 2 months.. I'm proud to say that it's satisfactory in my opinion, and I've also calculated the approximate amount that I've saved my parents by helping out in the shop and hence they don't have to pay for a cashier.. At the rate I'm helping, I've earned nearly $2000 in the past 2 months!! Pretty good eh?

Now, just waiting every single day for everything to end, and I will be a free (wo)man!!! LOL.
